As many as EIGHT lines have been cut, in very different locations, which is arousing suspicion.

The conspiracy theorists that I ocassionally read are speculating. The most popular theories are:

The lines are being cut as to cut off communications to an impending attack in the area by the U.S. or Israel

OR

The lines are being cut to delay the launch of the Iranian Oil Bourse - which was scheduled for February 11th but now delayed at least a week or two. The Oil Bourse is its own exchange that will not trade oil on the dollar but on its own currency. This is expected to hit the dollar hard.

Although I don't know if either (or neither) of these theories are correct - I would agree that these lines being cut is unlikely to be an accident.

So who? and why?

"1) one off of Marseille, France

2) two off of Alexandria, Egypt

3) one off of Dubai, in the Persian Gulf

4) one off of Bandar Abbas, Iran in the Persian Gulf

5) one between Qatar and the UAE, in the Persian Gulf

6)one in the Suez, Egypt

7)one near Penang, Malaysia

8) initially unreported cable cut on 23 January 2008 (Persian Gulf?)"
